50th Anniversary Celebration
Since 1969, 5,050 ASSIST Scholars from 52 countries have represented their homeland in 241 schools across the United States. Every year they change the discourse in classrooms, alter host family dinner conversations, and teach roommates about unknown cultures. They score winning goals, play in the orchestra, and help rebuild inner city houses. Throughout the year, bridges are built between people, across perspectives, spanning geographic divides.
ASSIST Scholars change their host communities, and they are changed themselves. These Scholars become more independent and more open-minded. They change how they study and what they study. They return home to share what they have learned and to become leaders across their own communities and across the world. This transformative year abroad gives these Scholars a bridge to new possibilities realized immediately and throughout their lives.
Creating these opportunities, bridging these divides -- the vision of ASSIST is as important now as it was 50 years ago.
This year ASSIST marks our 50th Anniversary. Join us in celebration of who we are, what we have accomplished, and where we are going. Reconnect with ASSIST friends, connect with the broader ASSIST diaspora, and be a part of this global mission.
