Since 1969, ASSIST has matched some of America’s finest independent schools with outstanding international scholars. ASSIST Scholars change the conversation in the classroom, enriching each school with unique diversity and a variety of invaluable international perspectives.
ASSIST provides yearlong support for schools, students, and host families. An experienced, caring staff is always there to help.
What it Means To Be A Member
Our schools partner with ASSIST year after year simply because they can’t imagine their student bodies without the personality, diversity, and drive that ASSIST Scholars bring to their academic, fine arts, and athletic programs.
We welcome independent day and boarding schools that are full members of NAIS to apply for membership!
How Are ASSIST Scholars Chosen?
ASSIST Scholars are truly the best of the best from around the world. They don’t just excel academically; they’ve also proven themselves in other fields, from fine arts to athletics and even service to their communities.
ASSIST uses a time-tested, intensive vetting process to select each Scholar. With a selection rate of just 12%, you can expect the world’s finest cultural ambassadors.
We choose Scholars carefully based on transcripts, an essay, and detailed recommendations. An ASSIST team then travels to each partner country for an in-person interview with finalists to assess each scholar’s candidacy.
Once students are approved, we carefully work through each student’s strengths and each school’s placement protocols to ensure an excellent match between ASSIST Scholars and your school. One of our hallmarks is a high retention rate, 98%, owing to our careful selection process.
All students are well oriented upon their arrival in the U.S., prepared to be ambassadors of their countries while contributing to every aspect of school life.
