Vi vil bringe en historie om ugen p\u00e5 vores blog. Nyd disse \"50 for 50\"-profiler med ASSISTs dedikerede bestyrelsesmedlemmer, dynamiske medarbejdere, im\u00f8dekommende v\u00e6rtsfamilier og entusiastiske ASSIST Scholars.<\/em><br><br><strong>Rita og Attila<br><em>Ungarn, Kent Denver Country Day School og Williston Northampton School<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ASSIST gav os mere end et vidunderligt \u00e5r i USA: Det udvidede vores horisont, vi fik nye venner og en amerikansk familie, vi mestrede det engelske sprog, og jeg fik en retning at forf\u00f8lge p\u00e5 universitetet. Men det hele var farvet af et andet resultat, som vi virkelig kan sige \u00e6ndrede vores liv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I for\u00e5ret 1992 var jeg ikke klar over, hvor heldig jeg var, da jeg fik beskeden: Jeg havde vundet et stipendium til at tilbringe et \u00e5r i Denver i det n\u00e6ste akademiske \u00e5r! Der var kun g\u00e5et tre \u00e5r siden kommunismens sammenbrud i Ungarn, og jeg kunne slet ikke forestille mig, hvor meget dette \u00e5r ville \u00e6ndre mit liv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I august samme \u00e5r steg jeg om bord p\u00e5 flyet f\u00f8rst til Z\u00fcrich og derefter til Boston, hvor orienteringen skulle finde sted. Der var yderligere 16 ungarske studerende p\u00e5 flyet sammen med mig (den st\u00f8rste gruppe af studerende fra Ungarn nogensinde). Jeg husker den f\u00f8rste dag i det store USA: den f\u00f8rste bustur, den f\u00f8rste aften og middag p\u00e5 St. Mark's School ... og f\u00f8rste gang, jeg fik \u00f8je p\u00e5 en s\u00e6rlig smuk pige: Rita fra Eger i Ungarn. Hun havde kr\u00f8llet r\u00f8dbrunt h\u00e5r og smukke \u00f8jne. Hun var lidt \u00e5benmundet, men det er jeg ogs\u00e5, s\u00e5 vi kom til at diskutere noget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De tre orienteringsdage gik, og jeg sad p\u00e5 endnu et fly, denne gang med kurs mod Denver. Selvom vi ungarere udvekslede nogle breve i l\u00f8bet af det \u00e5r, talte vi ikke sammen og m\u00f8dte ikke hinanden (husk, det var ikke engang f\u00f8r Facebook, men f\u00f8r internettet!). Jeg s\u00e5 hende igen i 1993, da vi kom tilbage til Ungarn, og gruppen besluttede at tilbringe en weekend sammen. Vi brugte hele natten p\u00e5 at tale sammen ved lejrb\u00e5let. P\u00e5 det tidspunkt vidste jeg allerede, at jeg elskede hende, men hun var i et forhold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Som \u00e5rene gik, holdt ASSIST en reunion hvert \u00e5r, de kom til interview i Ungarn. Jeg var med til hver eneste af dem, men der kom f\u00e6rre og f\u00e6rre fra min klasse hvert \u00e5r. Rita s\u00e5 jeg heller aldrig igen. S\u00e5 kom \u00e5ret 1998, som viste sig at v\u00e6re det sidste, f\u00f8r ASSIST trak sig ud af Ungarn i 5 \u00e5r.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jeg tog til genforeningen som s\u00e6dvanlig, men Rita, som p\u00e5 det tidspunkt havde studeret p\u00e5 universitetet i Budapest, sagde til sin mor, at hun ikke ville tage med. \u201cDu er n\u00f8dt til at tage af sted, min skat. Man ved aldrig, hvem man kommer til at m\u00f8de\u201d, sagde hun til sin datter, og til sidst gik hun med til at komme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Resten er historie. Jeg inviterede hende ud, men hun var tilbageholdende med at sige ja og h\u00e6vdede, at vi ikke ville holde en m\u00e5ned ... Det er 21 \u00e5r siden, og vi har levet lykkeligt gift lige siden og har tre smukke b\u00f8rn. De er 14, 12 og 5 \u00e5r gamle. Vi ville ikke have m\u00f8dt hinanden, hvis vi ikke havde vundet det stipendium. Tak til jer, ASSIST!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br><br>Om Attila og Rita:<br>Attila N\u00e1fr\u00e1di og Rita Sipos var begge medlemmer af ASSIST-klassen i 1993 fra Budapest, Ungarn. Attila gik p\u00e5 Kent Denver Country Day School i Colorado; Rita gik p\u00e5 Williston Northampton School i Easthampton, Massachusetts. Attila studerede videre p\u00e5 ELTE University Budapest og har arbejdet som flyveleder, chefsimulator hos HungaroControl og Business Development Executive hos Adacel. Rita gik ogs\u00e5 p\u00e5 ELTA University Budapest, hvor hun fik en M.S. i biologi og kemi og en ph.d. i mikrobiologi. Hun har brugt sin karriere som forsker p\u00e5 ELTE University og som laboratorieleder p\u00e5 BIOMI DNA Laboratory.
