ASSIST offers support and guidance when selecting volunteer host families for day students.<\/li>\n<li>Each student&#8217;s personal expenses are the responsibility of the student&#8217;s parents, guardian, or donors who choose to underwrite a Scholar&#8217;s personal expenses.<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Note:<\/strong> Scholarships are offered to students for one year only, after which the Scholar returns home to complete his or her secondary education.\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t<p>ASSIST also offers an optional program, The ASSIST Finalist Referral Program, where our schools can opt to be connected with our applicants who were not awarded a scholarship for direct placement opportunities.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tBecome a Member School\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>To apply to become an ASSIST member school, please contact:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<strong>Bill Mena<\/strong><br \/>\nDirector of School Relations<br \/>\n<a href=\"mailto:william@assistscholars.org\">william@assistscholars.org<\/a>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ASSIST will be in contact to discuss your school&#8217;s programs, arrange a campus visit with ASSIST representatives, and answer your questions. Once your questions have been answered, schools that wish to pursue membership will be presented to the School Membership Committee of ASSIST&#8217;s Board of Directors for approval.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tRequirements for becoming an ASSIST Member School\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assistscholars.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/nais-logo.png\" alt=\"NAIS\" title=\"nais-logo\" itemprop=\"image\"\/>\n\t\t<h3>NAIS Membership<\/h3>\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<p>Member schools must be full members of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).<\/p>\n\t\t<h3>Designate an ASSIST Representative<\/h3>\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<p>Member schools appoint an administrator or faculty member to serve as the official ASSIST Representative.<\/p>\n\t\t<h3>ASSIST Membership Fee<\/h3>\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t<p>Member schools pay an annual membership fee, which provides access to all ASSIST programs and to ongoing support throughout the school year. For the 2024\/25 academic year, the fee is $825.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tFor New Member Schools: Next Steps\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"\/schools\/local-representative\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tDesignate an ASSIST Representative\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"\/member-schools\/background-check\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCriminal Background Check for your ASSIST Rep\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tBudgeting for an ASSIST Scholarship\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>ASSIST member schools finance an ASSIST scholarship in a variety of ways:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The ASSIST scholarship can be added as a separate line item in the budget, as both revenue and expense. This emphasizes that the cost of the scholarship is revenue-neutral, unless they are taking the place of a full-pay student.<\/li>\n<li>The scholarship can be included in the school&#8217;s overall financial aid budget.<\/li>\n<li>With an increasing emphasis on net tuition revenue, ASSIST member schools are increasingly requesting ASSIST&#8217;s partial scholarship students and envisioning the delegation as a group that contributes genuine revenue to the budget.<\/li>\n<li>Member schools can identify a donor willing to fund the scholarship.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tFrequently Asked Questions\t<\/h2>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\"  id=\"fl-accordion--label-0\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-0\">For which grades are ASSIST&#8217;s Candidates? <\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-0\"  tabindex=\"0\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Most ASSIST Scholars are enrolled in 10th or 11th grade at their American schools. A smaller number are enrolled in 12th grade or as postgraduates.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\"  id=\"fl-accordion--label-1\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-1\">Do Scholars need ESL support? <\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-1\"  tabindex=\"0\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>No. ASSIST carefully assesses the English proficiency of our candidates, including during their final, in-person interview. All ASSIST Scholars are proficient enough to succeed at their American schools.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\"  id=\"fl-accordion--label-2\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-2\">Can member schools offer partial scholarships?<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-2\"  tabindex=\"0\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Yes. After enrolling one student on a Sanderson (full) Scholarship, member schools are eligible to offer Lindfors (partial) Scholarships to additional ASSIST Scholars.<\/p>\n<p>This is a particularly attractive option for schools with enrollment openings who wish to diversify and strengthen their population and gain net tuition revenue.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\"  id=\"fl-accordion--label-3\" tabindex=\"0\" aria-controls=\"fl-accordion--panel-3\">Where do Scholars stay when attending a day school, or during breaks? <\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"fl-accordion--icon-3\"  tabindex=\"0\"><i title=\"Expand\">Expand<\/i><\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t<p>Students attending day schools live with a volunteer host family or families for the duration of the school year.
