Fra 4. til 8. august samlet ASSIST-kullet fra 2027 seg ved Marlborough College i England for fire uforglemmelige dager med samv\u00e6r og forberedelser f\u00f8r de skulle ta fatt p\u00e5 skole\u00e5ret i utlandet. For mange var dette den f\u00f8rste anledningen til \u00e5 m\u00f8te medstudenter som skal dele denne opplevelsen med dem, selv om de skal dra i forskjellige retninger i l\u00f8pet av skole\u00e5ret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fra en gruppe forskere til et fellesskap<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n

Orienteringen startet med \u00e5 samle stipendiatene og gi dem rom til \u00e5 bli kjent med hverandre. Velkomstlekene tirsdag kveld (blant annet en livlig \u00abstein-saks-papir\u00bb-turnering) og m\u00f8tene p\u00e5 etasjene i studenthjemmet skapte raskt b\u00e5nd, og gjorde ukjente ansikter til venner. Onsdag morgen innledet en \u00e5pningssamling uken formelt med et dynamisk program best\u00e5ende av studenter som opptr\u00e5dte og leste opp tekster. Gjennom hele uken ga veiledningsgruppene stipendiatene et mindre fellesskap innenfor den st\u00f8rre klassen: et sted \u00e5 stille sp\u00f8rsm\u00e5l, reflektere og bygge relasjoner med ansatte og medstudenter. Uken balanserte forberedelser med god tid til \u00e5 knytte b\u00e5nd, blant annet gjennom en internasjonal fotballkamp, teambuilding-aktiviteter utend\u00f8rs, en minneverdig dansefest og en grillmiddag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Forberedelser til mer enn bare f\u00f8rste skoledag<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I kjernen av orienteringsprogrammet l\u00e6rer stipendiatene hvordan de skal forberede seg p\u00e5 utfordringene \u2013 og mulighetene \u2013 som et ASSIST-\u00e5r byr p\u00e5. Gjennom undervisning og samtaler gikk stipendiatene gjennom skolens regler og forventninger, fikk veiledning om hvordan de kan tilpasse seg et nytt hjem og en ny kultur, diskuterte hvor de kan henvende seg for \u00e5 f\u00e5 st\u00f8tte n\u00e5r utfordringer oppst\u00e5r, og utforsket hva det inneb\u00e6rer \u00e5 bli et aktivt medlem av det nye skolefellesskapet. Praktiske kurs i amerikanske idretter som baseball, lacrosse og amerikansk fotball ga stipendiatene en smakebit p\u00e5 tradisjonene de vil m\u00f8te p\u00e5 sine nye skoler. M\u00e5let: \u00e5 forlate orienteringen med visshet om at de har verkt\u00f8yene, relasjonene og st\u00f8tten de trenger for \u00e5 takle det som kommer videre.<\/p>\n\n\n

L\u00e6re av dem som har v\u00e6rt der<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

En av de mest verdifulle ressursene for nye stipendiater er ASSIST-alumninettverket. Under et eget alumnepanel delte tidligere stipendiater sine egne erfaringer og ga innblikk i \u00e5ret som ligger foran dem \u2013 fra \u00e5 finne seg til rette i ukjente situasjoner til \u00e5 utnytte nye muligheter fullt ut. Deres historier ga kullet fra 2027 en mulighet til \u00e5 h\u00f8re direkte fra folk som en gang satt akkurat der de selv satt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vi feirer det hver enkelt stipendiat bidrar med<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Orienteringen handler ikke bare om \u00e5 forberede stipendiatene p\u00e5 en ny kultur \u2013 den handler ogs\u00e5 om \u00e5 feire kulturene de bringer med seg. Denne \u00e5nden kom til uttrykk under \u00abTraditions of Our Cultures\u00bb, et av ukens h\u00f8ydepunkter, der opptredener gir stipendiatene mulighet til \u00e5 dele glimt fra hjemlandet og oppleve det fulle mangfoldet i klassen sin. Ved ukens slutt var de 31 landene ikke lenger bare en statistikk. De representerte venner, romkamerater og lagkamerater som vil holde kontakten lenge etter at orienteringen er over.<\/p>\n\n\n

Vi gleder oss til \u00e5 se hvordan avgangsklassen fra 2027 vil bidra med sin nysgjerrighet, sine talenter og sine perspektiver til sine nye skolemilj\u00f8er \u2013 og til \u00e5 se hvor dette ekstraordin\u00e6re \u00e5ret vil f\u00f8re dem. Velkommen, avgangsklassen fra 2027! ASSIST-\u00e5ret deres har offisielt begynt.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Den 8. august reiste stipendiatene fra Marlborough College for \u00e5 ta fatt p\u00e5 neste etappe av reisen sin.
