Program Costs & Financial Support

Estimated Expenses for Students and Families

Each year, ASSIST Scholars receive a scholarship to a leading North American private high school. Those awarded the Sanderson Scholarship receive full coverage of tuition and either housing with a volunteer American host family at day schools, or room and board at boarding schools—costs that can total up to $84,000 annually at our member schools. Recipients of the Lindfors Scholarship receive a scholarship for approximately half of those costs.

Frequently Asked Questions About Program Costs & Financial Support

  • Will there be additional fees charged directly by the American school?

Yes. While your ASSIST scholarship covers 100% of your tuition, room, and board, American independent schools typically charge additional fees for incidental expenses (such as textbooks, school supplies, mandatory technology fees, or elective field trips). Applicants are responsible for these school-specific fees. If you have questions about typical school incidentals, please contact your country's Program Coordinator.

  • Can I receive a fee waiver to submit my initial application?

We understand that the $35 USD application fee can be a concern, but we look at financial accessibility holistically. Even if an application fee waiver or an ASSIST program fee reduction is granted, families must still factor in unavoidable external costs like international flights, U.S. visa fees, and health insurance. Because we cannot cover these external expenses for every student, we encourage you to consider whether the overall financial journey is manageable for your family before applying.

  • What should I do next if these program fees present a major financial hurdle?

We want you to have all the facts before investing your time into our rigorous selection process:

    • If you understand the financial commitments (and potential for donor reductions) and wish to proceed: You do not need to take any action; please continue with your application.
    • If the financial requirements are an insurmountable hurdle at this time: Please do not hesitate to email your ASSIST representative to withdraw your application. We deeply appreciate your honesty, respect your decision, and wish you the absolute best in your future academic pursuits.
