ASSIST is pleased to announce that Katie Hanlon has joined our organization as Director of Development, bringing deep experience in nonprofit leadership, fundraising strategy, and relationship-driven philanthropy.
Based in Chicago, Katie will guide ASSIST’s development efforts at an important moment for the organization. As ASSIST continues to grow its global community of Scholars, alumni, schools, families, and supporters, her work will help strengthen the philanthropic partnerships that make our mission possible.
Katie has spent more than two decades working at the intersection of nonprofit development and finance. Her career has included leadership in major gifts, individual giving, board engagement, and corporate and foundation relations. Most recently, she served as Executive Director of Project C.U.R.E. Chicago, where she led fundraising and community engagement initiatives in support of the organization’s humanitarian mission. She has also held senior development roles across the nonprofit sector, including major gifts work at Rush University Hospital.
At ASSIST, Katie will focus on deepening connections with the people and institutions who believe in the power of international education. Philanthropic support plays a vital role in opening doors for exceptional students from around the world, allowing them to spend a transformational year at leading U.S. independent schools and become part of a lifelong global network.
Since 1969, ASSIST Scholars has advanced cross-cultural understanding by connecting talented international students with educational opportunities in the United States. Katie’s leadership will help build on that legacy as ASSIST continues to expand access, strengthen alumni and donor engagement, and prepare young people to contribute to a more connected and peaceful world.
We are delighted to welcome Katie to the ASSIST Scholars community.
