Application Process for 2026/27 Scholarships
Together with our Czech partner, the Bakala Foundation, we invite students interested in study abroad US to apply. Students currently in Grades 9 or 10 are eligible to apply to ASSIST for placement in the 10th or 11th grade. There are also some opportunities available to students entering the 12th grade and as postgraduate students.
Scholarships are also offered to boarding schools in the UK through our colleagues of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC).
We are primarily seeking students for placement in U.S. Grades 10 and 11. We also have a limited number of opportunities for exceptionally strong applicants interested in Grade 12 or postgraduate positions.
The application for the 2026-27 school year is open. Follow the steps below to apply:
- Complete the online application and submit a copy of your academic transcript via the ASSIST application portal by December 1. A $35 U.S. application fee is required to submit your application. Shortly after, we will review all submissions and inform candidates who will advance to the next step.
- Those asked to advance will be required to submit three teacher recommendations, informal photos, and a short statement from a parent or guardian in the same application portal. Additionally, if your first language is not English, you will be invited to take the Duolingo English Test. These materials are needed as soon as possible, but no later than December 21. We will use these materials to determine our Scholarship Finalists
- Scholarship Finalists will be invited to an interview with members of the ASSIST U.S. team in January
- Finalists will be notified of the outcome in February.
To learn more, please contact our colleague at The Bakala Foundation, Ms. Denisa Maková, at makova@bakalafoundation.org or visit the Bakala Foundation website.

Interviews and Decisions
Scholarship Finalists will be invited to an interview. Interviews for Czech Republic candidates will be held in January. A team from the U.S. will interview students in small groups. The interview is fairly informal and is a chance for us to get to know applicants better and help find the right school for each.
The Admission Committee makes scholarship decisions in January and February and will inform every applicant of the outcome.
We wish you luck and hope to meet you. If you have any questions, contact Program Coordinator, Denisa Maková at makova@bakalafoundation.org.
