Welcome to ASSIST Slovakia
ASSIST became active in Slovakia to help young Slovak students currently in the 9th and 10th grade who would like to spend one year as exchange students in the United States as 10th or 11th graders. There are also very limited places for 12th graders and post-graduates.
Our work in Slovakia began in the 1994/95 academic year. Our first Slovak scholars distinguished themselves in their American independent schools, and to date, well over 100 Slovak students have studied in the States through ASSIST.

Financial Support for Slovak Scholars
American schools are generous in offering scholarships to ASSIST students. Throughout our time in Slovakia, ASSIST has identified sponsors to help students and their families pay for the cost of participating in the program. Many American donors have stepped forward to support deserving Scholars.
ASSIST is committed to making its program accessible to families from a wide range of financial backgrounds. Admission is based on merit, but financial assistance is available based on need.
Students who are selected for the program and apply for financial help will be considered for program fee reductions.

Application Process for 2026/27 Scholarships
Together with our Slovak partner, Asociácia absolventov štipendijných programov, we invite scholars interested in study in the US to apply. The application process for scholarships for the 2026/27 school year is now open. Once your application has been submitted, you will have access to a checklist listing additional required materials, like teacher recommendations and grade transcripts. We encourage you to check your applicant portal often to see the status of your materials. If successful, you may also be invited to take an English test and to interview in-person in Bratislava in January.
Scholarships are also offered to boarding schools in the UK through our colleagues of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC).
