Enrollment & Placement
Enrollment Steps and Guidelines
We deeply appreciate your partnership and commitment to global engagement through the ASSIST Scholars Program. If you have questions or need clarification at any point, please contact us at william@assistscholars.org.
Please send acceptance letters to the families and send a copy to william@assistscholars.org.
Letters should reference selection through ASSIST, but should not explicitly state “ASSIST Scholarship.”
To avoid confusion for families abroad, please do not include tuition or financial aid amounts in the acceptance letter, and do not send financial aid forms directly to parents.
- Full scholarship students: Send enrollment contracts directly to the student’s parents and copy ASSIST.
- Partial scholarship students: Send all tuition bills and enrollment contracts to the attention of:

Email: debbie@assistscholars.org
Please send bills for books, supplies, lab fees, and other miscellaneous expenses directly to the student’s parents.
Note: Many students come from countries with more limited financial resources. When possible, we encourage schools to include required fees within the full scholarship award.
Students are responsible for enrolling in GeoBlue health insurance unless their school requires enrollment in a school-sponsored plan. Students will have full access to their insurance accounts and are expected to share relevant information with the school health office.
Because ASSIST guarantees all tuition payments, families do not need to purchase tuition insurance.
- Student Travel Guidelines: Students are generally encouraged to remain in the United States for the full ten-month academic program. In some cases, students may return home during long breaks if feasible; however, we strongly encourage students to remain in the U.S. and connect with host or U.S. families when possible, as this often leads to a deeper, more meaningful cultural exchange. Circumstances vary by student and family situation.
- U.S. History Requirement: All students must take U.S. History and English during their year. The U.S. History requirement may be waived in limited cases, such as certain 10th or 12th-grade placements.
- Driving Policy: Students may not enroll in driver’s education courses or operate motorized vehicles during their ASSIST year.
- Placement Duration: Students typically return home after their ASSIST year and do not pursue a diploma or re-enrollment. Two-year placements are possible by request. Please notify ASSIST so we can support the process.
- F-1 students: Please initiate the F-1 process by sending the I-20 form and instructions directly to the student.
- J-1 students: ASSIST will issue the DS-2019 form for J-1 visa applications.
ASSIST Orientation will be held in the United Kingdom (UK) from August 4th to 8th, 2026. Students will travel directly from their home country to your school. Please communicate your specific start and end dates to students in advance.
Two Year Placement Process
The following information provides details about the process for ASSIST scholars and families considering a second year at your school. We fully support your decision-making in assessing a student’s fit and contribution to your community and are here to assist as needed.
- The school will enroll one new student on a full scholarship and any partial scholarship students as needed.
- The annual membership fee will continue to be paid each year the student is enrolled.
- Second-year students will not attend ASSIST orientation or receive sponsorship support.
- The student will pay ASSIST a reduced program fee (10%).
- Tuition/scholarship terms will be negotiated directly between the school and the family.
- The school and family will finalize the enrollment agreement/contract.
Families have been informed of these steps, and ASSIST will coordinate directly with them to ensure clarity. Please notify us when discussions begin so we can meet with the family to reinforce understanding and expectations.
We aim to make this process as smooth as possible while strengthening our partnership with you. If questions arise, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to help.
We understand how important it is that a school's community represents the school's mission and values and how that impacts culture. Knowing how ASSIST Scholars can enhance your school's community will help us ensure that we align our student selections with your school's needs and preferences. We are initiating our planning process for the upcoming academic year at ASSIST and would like to gather some essential information regarding your school’s preferences for student placements.
