This August, we had the honor of welcoming the ASSIST Scholars Class of ’26 with an unforgettable orientation in the Swiss Alps. Staff members, board members, and students traveled to Leysin, Switzerland, where we were generously hosted by Leysin American School and The Swiss Hotel Management School.

The students left feeling energized and prepared for the year ahead. For our staff and board members, it was a proud and inspiring moment, reminding us of the purpose behind our work and the incredible caliber of the students we chose for the Class of ’26.
We focused on preparing our scholars for a successful year ahead in a U.S. private high school, but we also made sure there was plenty of time for fun. The students enjoyed a number of activities, from hiking in the stunning mountains and a spirited soccer match to a lively dance party.
The final and most memorable event was the Traditions of Our Culture show. It was a powerful display of talent and heritage, with students sharing dances, poetry, pop music—a big thank you to our Nordic students for their ABBA medley!—and more. It was a meaningful end to a wonderful week.
