Year appointed: 2023

Libby comes to the ASSIST Board after a first chapter in Corporate America and a second, even more rewarding chapter living, working, and raising a family on a boarding school campus in Connecticut. After graduating from the University of Virginia and receiving an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, Libby worked in corporate planning, then finance and marketing for Time Inc. She switched to working independently as a marketing consultant while raising three children with husband Trevor, an English teacher at Choate Rosemary Hall. Libby started working at Choate in 2005, tasked with designing a parent relations program, and became the school’s first Director of Parent Relations. Engagement with Choate’s international students and parents and the opportunity for annual around-the-world travel with the Choate Admission team became a wonderful expansion of her role. This provided not only an unparalleled opportunity to appreciate different countries and cultures, but also the chance to develop meaningful relationships with current and prospective Choate families across the globe. Libby especially enjoyed interviewing students abroad and then, as Director of International Students, welcoming those who matriculated to campus and supporting them throughout their Choate careers. A dream job, to say the least…and good preparation for engagement with ASSIST Scholars! Libby’s last job at Choate, before moving with her retired husband to Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, involved oversight for Health and Wellness Services. No easy task during a pandemic, but an important opportunity to engage in conversation around student wellbeing and to strategize about the role of independent schools in addressing the teen mental health crisis.
