Robert A. Stanley, Jr. | President
In January 2000, the ASSIST Board of Directors appointed Robert A. Stanley, Jr., as the third president of ASSIST. Mr. Stanley served in American independent schools for 13 years and has previous experience in the corporate world. He manages the staffs of the affiliate offices around the world and is responsible for the daily operations of the organization. Mr. Stanley is a graduate of Suffield Academy, Brown University and Yale University Divinity School.
Martin Milne | Vice President
Martin Milne has primary responsibility for stewarding current member schools, for vetting prospective member schools, and for liaising with host families and with current Scholars and their families. Mr. Milne held positions in domestic and international independent schools, as a history teacher and as dean of students, prior to joining ASSIST in 2009. He is a graduate of Eaglebrook School, Deerfield Academy, St. Lawrence University and the State University of New York at Albany.
Ashley Gosnell | Director of Development
Ashley Gosnell was introduced to ASSIST during her years at St. Andrew’s School (DE), where she had the opportunity “to see, firsthand, the contribution ASSIST Scholars made to the life of the school.” Ashley received her BA from Vanderbilt University (TN) and an MA from Stanford University in International Comparative Education. Her work experience includes being a teacher (a year in China teaching Oral English Language), an admissions officer with a scholarship program for underprivileged students (Student/Partner Alliance, NJ), and most notably a successful fundraiser (Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts in D.C.; Asia Society of Northern California; Planned Parenthood of Central and Greater Northern New Jersey). Ashley served as Director of Secondary Placement at Due West Education in Beijing, where she created a new secondary school placement business for the organization.
Anne Stanley | Director of School and Family Relations
Anne was Vice President of ASSIST from 2000 - 2009. In her new role as Director of School and Family Relations, she is working closely with the ASSIST team to introduce prospective schools to membership, to steward current school relationships, and to travel overseas to interview prospective students. Prior to her initial tenure with ASSIST, Anne spent eight years in the independent school world in both admissions and college counseling. She is a graduate of Syracuse University.
Cathleen H. Presnick | Office Manager
After eight years in the corporate world, Cathy worked part-time and raised her two children. She joined the ASSIST team in 2004. Cathy is a graduate of the University of Connecticut and earned an MBA from the University of New Haven.
Debra M. Viets | Business Manager
After five years in the corporate world, Debbie joined the ASSIST team as Business Manager in 2003. Her responsibilities include financial record keeping, banking, bill paying, managing employee salary/benefits, and coordinating ASSIST's annual audit. Debbie is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, where she received a B.S. in Accounting.
Kristen F. Sullivan | Program Coordinator
Kristen Sullivan joined ASSIST in 2000. Kristen coordinates the student Orientation and meetings of the Board of Directors, as well as student recruitement, application protocols, and the international travel of ASSIST interview teams. She is a graduate of Suffield Academy, and received a B.A. in Amercian Studies from Franklin and Marshall College, and an M.A. in Social Science from SUNY Binghamton.
Jean Sutton | School Liaison and Host Family Coordinator
Jean joined the ASSIST team in 2005. Her responsibilites include managing all aspects of ASSIST's host family program, and communicating with ASSIST Representatives throughout the year regarding Scholars' progress.
Marie Rosema | Technology Coordinator
Marie is the newest member on the ASSIST staff. She is multi-talented, and we feel fortunate to be able to tap her talents. Marie has two bachelor’s degrees and a Master's in Marketing Management. She recently spent four years in the South Pacific, which gave her time to explore Asia. Not only will Marie be a technical asset to ASSIST with her social media and design capabilities, she will also bring with her the knowledge and the sensitivities she has received by stepping inside other cultures (Japan, China, Thailand to name a few).
